If you are on a budget or simply want a double stroller that you cannot afford new at its current price tag, getting a used double stroller may be the way to go. Generally, though, there are a few issues that may affect you. Let’s discuss some of these here. First of all is the issue of recall notification. Yes, strollers do get recalled, and some due to serious health and safety issues (like toxic-releasing material or unstable seats on jogging strollers that could spell life-threatening danger to your baby boy or girl on a run) and you need to keep up-to-date or at least be reachable so the manufacturer (like Graco or Kolcraft etc.) can reach you by phone or email and notify you.
When you do purchase used double strollers, see if you can get the ownership registration information transferred to your name and details. This way, you’d be set. Also, if you do see a used model and are after a discount double stroller, you will be able to quickly check online to see if any recalls have been made against that particular stroller. Check eBay for great used double strollers and similar bargains, otherwise Craigslist is also ok. However, my main recommendation would be to check online retailers like Toys R Us and others as they all have used baby items now in their own category, so you’ll be able to have the same great delivery system in place and even guaranteed 3-month warranties and so on, and the actual double baby stroller will have been looked over to make sure there are no major faults and that the particular stroller has not had a recall or anything of the sort.
The suspension system’s springs sometimes do get less and less functional with age, so you may need to double check with the owner that there are no loud screeching noises and that a smooth ride is still possible.
